Frequently asked questions about conveyors and warehouse automation

What does a warehouse conveyor system cost?
In the Benelux a modular roller conveyor typically costs €400 to €1,200 per linear metre, depending on drive type (24V MDR or AC), load and controls. A complete 100-metre pick-and-pack line with sorting points and WMS integration usually lands between €150,000 and €500,000.
When should you choose 24V MDR over an AC-driven roller conveyor?
Choose 24V MDR (motor driven roller) for zone accumulation, light to medium cartons and where energy use and noise matter: motors only run when product is present in the zone. AC drives remain better for heavy pallets, continuous throughput and harsh environments.
What is the payback period of warehouse automation?
Most Benelux projects pay back in 18 to 36 months. The largest savings come from reduced walking time per order, lower error cost and higher throughput per shift. Our ROI calculator estimates payback from your order lines, labour rate and shift staffing.
Can a conveyor system integrate with my WMS or ERP?
Yes. Integration runs through a WCS layer that talks to the WMS/ERP over REST, OPC UA or message queues. Scan points, weight checks and sorting decisions are reported back in real time, so stock levels and order status stay in sync.
What maintenance does a roller or belt conveyor require?
Plan weekly visual inspection, monthly belt and bearing checks, and a yearly full alignment and controls audit. Predictable maintenance prevents most downtime: worn bearings and incorrectly tensioned belts cause the bulk of unplanned stoppages.
